National Short Story Week coincides with National Novel Writing Month, in which we are all encouraged to, er, write a novel in a month.

If anyone wants to take a week out of their novel writing in order to put together a short story, they are going to be very busy indeed.

Landseer apparently had a neat trick of doing two immaculate and different sketches simultaneously, one with each hand. Perhaps that’s a knack that fiction writers should cultivate. Or just drink a lot more coffee.
