National write a lot week. And month.

It’s National Short Story Week. Yes, a week dedicated to the short story, the reading of and the writing of.

image loadingThe event, supported by a coalition of broadcasters and publishers, aims to get us all reading and writing short fiction and is marked by activities up and down the UK.

National Short Story Week coincides with National Novel Writing Month, in which we are all encouraged to, er, write a novel in a month.

If anyone wants to take a week out of their novel writing in order to put together a short story, they are going to be very busy indeed.

Landseer apparently had a neat trick of doing two immaculate and different sketches simultaneously, one with each hand. Perhaps that’s a knack that fiction writers should cultivate. Or just drink a lot more coffee.
