You may know that the EU and US are negotiating this byzantine trade ‘agreement’ that none of the citizens of either the EU or US have agreed to.
Among other things, this deal, the TTIP, would allow corporations to sue the UK or any other country for, say, introducing plain packaging for cigarettes, for establishing a living minimum wage, for banning GM products; you know putting citizens before profits. (Note to Japanese friends: Japan’s democracy is being undermined in the exact same way through the TPP).
Secret courts of corporation-appointed lawyers will adjudicate on complaints by the corporates against nation states and there is no recourse to appeal. These secret courts will have the power to levy fines from elected governments for not acquiescing to corporate will.
The fines will be paid out of public money, creating another funnel for your tax money into corporate coffers.
