I would like to express a huge debt of thanks to Kym Hutcheon of Kyoto After Dark for putting up a very large and froody interview about Weed and related things on the KAD site.

The splash is much larger and indulging than I could have hoped for or deserve. I am afraid I rambled on far too long, for which I apologise. I’m afraid that’s me being brief.

Kyoto After Dark is your key to the ancient city. The site offers an introduction to places to feed and water yourself, as well as cluing you in on culture and entertainment.

A tall tale

I am making progress with the paperback Un-Tall Tales. It will feature all the stories and nonsense from the ebook Shorts, plus two extra short stories, ‘Dumb Novel’ and ‘The Escapologist’. The text is pretty much edited and formatted and I now have to get to grips with the cover.

Watch this space but don’t hold your breath.

Weedy reviews

Writing novels is a lot easier than marketing them.

I don’t write for money. Playing the lottery is a more reliable way to earn a living than writing. However, it would be nice to get Weed and Shorts (and Un-Tall Tales when I get the damn thing prepared) a bit noticed.

I’m trying all sorts of things and I will fulminate bloggily about that one day when I have a mo. But not today.

One small but helpful way to get one’s publications better noticed is to have reader’s reviews on Kindle and Amazon. If any good soul out there has read either publication and felt like jotting down a few thoughts on Kindle/Amazon, I would be tremendously grateful — to the point of proffering a beverage if ever in the same neighbourhood.

Osama bin Killed

No tears to shed over the death of Osama Bin Laden, but what happened in Abbottabad was an act of extra-judicial execution.

Now, I thought that in the ‘war’ against Al Qaida the west was supposed to be the good team and one of the things that distinguished us from the bad guys was stuff like habeas corpus, due process, visible justice and so on.

None of that applied when OBL was shot so what is the US fighting for?

Trying to get on top of neglected magazine work while following the earthquake news. Son 2 practicing drums downstairs, Bon Jovi’s ‘You Give Love a Bad Name’. Military helicopters thudder overhead. Elsewhere, people are struggling for their lives, nuclear reactors melting down.

O, frabjous day! Calooh! Callay!

It’s only taken more years and tries than I would care to count, but, well, bloody mindedness will out.

Now, I have to market the bloody thing. There, I am clueless. I read that Facebook is one avenue but I am not sure what to do with it, so if anyone has any ideas, you know where to send them.

You won’t find a paperback version of Shorts on Amazon yet, because I haven’t arranged one. And when I do, it will not longer be called Shorts, because it’s an over used name.

I’ll be boring everyone with news of that project as we go along.

Meanwhile, I should now go get my pencil out and do something with it because with Weed in paperback I have one less reason for procrastination.

Weedy paperback nouveau est arrivée

The proof copy of Weed the paperback arrived today. Yes, Weed is in paperback. Missed the delivery as I was at J’s high school graduation thingummy. Got home to find that the PO had been knocking at the door. Armed with a can of beer, legged it to the local PO and claimed the weedy thing. An interesting feeling having in your hand something that you not only wrote but whose internal and external design is all your own.

The book is done by laser printing rather than offset so you don’t have quite the Penquin quality of finish. And the colours on the cover are other than I defined them, but this is all nerdy picky stuff, so let’s skip it and go straight to the merlot.

Weed the paperback novel should be available through Amazon et al in a couple of weeks. Will update through this page.
